Danielle Bavli is an American soprano from New York City now based in Sydney, Australia. Praised for her "warmth and tendresse” (San Diego Story), she joined the Principal Artists’ Roster at Opera Australia in 2025 and sang multiple roles in Sydney Festival’s Siegfried & Roy: The Unauthorised Opera.
Further 2025 engagements include her State Opera South Australia debut as the Queen of Night in The Magic Flute, and appearing in Great Opera Hits for Opera Australia.
In the 2024 season, Danielle made her Australian debut as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with Rockdale Opera Company. Previous highlights include Norina in Don Pasquale (Pacific Northwest Opera), the Queen of Night in Die Zauberflöte (Opera NEO), and Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Janiec Opera Company (Brevard Music Center), where she also appeared as concert soloist in Opera’s Greatest Hits and An Evening with Cole Porter.
She has performed Luanna in Angel of the Amazon (Encompass New Opera Theatre), Gherardino in Gianni Schicchi and Bridesmaid in Trial by Jury (Salt Marsh Opera), and covered Servilia in La clemenza di Tito (Bronx Opera). Further roles include L’Eternità and Calisto (cover) in Cavalli’s La Calisto, Soprano 1 in Glass’s Hydrogen Jukebox (Boston Conservatory Opera), Cunegonde (cover) in Bernstein’s Candide (Opera Australia and Brevard Music Center), Stephanie in Heggie’s To Hell and Back, Amy March in Adamo’s Little Women, and Carey in Ching’s Speed Dating Tonight! (Vanderbilt Opera Theatre).
Danielle’s operatic foundation was shaped by an eight-season tenure with the Metropolitan Opera Children’s Chorus, where she performed regularly on one of the world’s most prestigious stages. She was awarded the 2019 Music Worcester Young Artist Prize and featured on WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase. She received an Emerging Talent Award from the Kurt Weill Foundation’s Lotte Lenya Competition and was a participant in the Milnes VOICE Studio at the Savannah VOICE Festival. Additional credits include performances with Odyssey Opera, Boston Opera Collaborative, SongFest, and the Vancouver International Song Institute.
She holds a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and a Bachelor of Music from Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, where she was awarded the Michelson Award for Collaborative Arts and the Robin Nell Dickerson Award for excellence in performance and scholarship.
